Robeco: Central Bank Gold Demand Increase and De-Dollarization Trend Support Gold PricesThe RaboResearch Global Economics and Markets team at Rabobank points out that, with the ongoing rise in global insecurity and the advancement of de-dollarization, central banks’ interest in gold is clearly increasing. The report emphasizes that central banks are more frequently repatriating their gold reserves for domestic storage rather than holding them overseas. The report, citing relevant sources, notes that the Financial Times recently observed a phenomenon where “the world is becoming more dangerous, but risk has become cheaper”—significant capital is flowing into the insurance sector in pursuit of high returns and low volatility, which, in the current context, could raise concerns about mispricing. Traditionally, central banks would intervene promptly to stabilize markets, but they now face considerably greater geopolitical and security challenges. The report also mentions two related developments: First, The Wall Street Journal reported on a $40 million gold heist that may have exposed top-secret CIA espionage operations in the United States; second, according to Nikkei Asia, as the de-dollarization trend continues, central banks are expected to keep increasing their gold reserves, with 84% of surveyed respondents believing that gold holdings will rise in the next five years.Overall, Rabobank believes that rising geopolitical uncertainty and the trend toward diversification of the global reserve system will continue to provide structural support for gold prices. As key holders of gold, the persistent buying and asset repatriation by central banks are gradually becoming crucial variables in the long-term pricing logic.

GameStop investors file a lawsuit to block the vote on the $3.5 billion compensation package for the CEOOdaily reports that a GameStop retail investor has filed a class action lawsuit in the Delaware Court of Chancery, seeking to block a vote on CEO Ryan Cohen's $3.5 billion compensation package until proper information is disclosed to shareholders. The lawsuit claims that GameStop's board repeatedly amended procedures related to the shareholder vote—including whether Ryan Cohen could cast votes with his 9.3% stake and how abstentions would be counted—prior to issuing a misleading proxy statement, with the intention of depressing the voting rate among public investors. Shareholders had originally planned to vote on the compensation package on July 7. If the company reaches a $10 billion market capitalization and $10 billion in cumulative EBITDA, Ryan Cohen would receive a $3.5 billion stock option award. (Bloomberg)
