Centrus Energy Corp. has signed a $900 million contract with the U.S. Department of Energy.According to the agreement, the company plans to convert its high-assay low-enriched uranium (HALEU) production cascade facility to commercial operation. This contract marks a crucial step for the United States in building a domestic HALEU supply chain. HALEU is an essential fuel for next-generation advanced nuclear reactors, and the current global supply mainly relies on Russia.Centrus stated that once commercial operations begin, its Ohio-based factory will be able to continuously produce this vital nuclear fuel. This move aims to meet America’s growing demand for advanced nuclear energy and enhance energy security. The company's CEO emphasized that this development is critical to achieving US leadership in nuclear energy. He added that commercial operations will drive innovation and support a clean energy future. The contract is expected to create jobs and boost the development of related industries. Analysts believe this may reduce US dependence on overseas nuclear fuel while promoting innovations in nuclear technology. As the world shifts toward low-carbon energy, nuclear power is becoming increasingly prominent. Centrus’s initiative is seen as a key aspect of revitalizing the US nuclear industry and could pave the way for other similar projects.

Ethlabs researchers say ETH lacks a clear value narrativeAccording to Odaily, former Ethereum Foundation researcher and Ethlabs member Ansgar Dietrichs stated on Laura Shin's Unchained podcast that ETH still lacks a clear value narrative after failing to break $5,000 over the past five years. Ethlabs was founded on June 22 by five former Ethereum Foundation researchers and is supported by Bitmine, Sharplink, and Consensys founder Joe Lubin. On-chain analytics firm Cryptoquant reported that currently over 32% of the ETH supply—around 39.5 million ETH—is staked, while exchange balances continue to decline. The company also noted that Ethereum daily active addresses and smart contract activity have reached record highs, but the ETH price is down more than 50% from this cycle’s peak.
