Leader of Spain's largest crypto scam FX Winning arrested in Dubai, with over 460 million euros involvedAccording to ChainCatcher and as reported by CriptoNoticias, Spanish national David Merino has been arrested in Dubai for allegedly leading the crypto Ponzi scheme FX Winning. This scheme is the largest crypto-related Ponzi scheme ever investigated in Spain, involving more than 460 million euros and impacting approximately 15,000 investors. After officially leaving the company in 2021, Merino continued to operate the scheme from behind the scenes, attracting funds by promising high returns on forex and cryptocurrency investments. Its operating model used funds from new investors to pay earlier investors, and the scheme operated in about 30 countries. Spain typically has 15 to 40 days to submit extradition documents to the United Arab Emirates. In addition, FX Winning is also under investigation in the United States and Mexico. The US Drug Enforcement Administration believes the scheme involves $100 billion. In March 2026, Merino released a video denying he withheld other people’s funds and shifted responsibility to other members of his team. Since 2021, the Spanish National Securities Market Commission has warned that FX Winning is not authorized to provide investment services.

Polymarket accuses Kalshi of alleged industrial espionage, citing too many “coincidences” in multiple product launchesAccording to ChainCatcher, prediction market platform Polymarket suspects that its competitor Kalshi may be engaging in corporate espionage at its New York office and targeting its employees. The Polymarket marketing director confirmed that the company is conducting an internal investigation and stated that there are “too many coincidences,” which raises suspicions about Kalshi’s intentions. Reports state that Polymarket has compiled an internal file titled “Imitators,” documenting around a dozen suspicious incidents. These include a free grocery pop-up event that Polymarket planned to launch on February 12, only for Kalshi to introduce a similar event about nine days earlier. Additionally, Polymarket expected to announce its perpetual contract product on April 21, but about one hour prior to that, tech outlet The Information reported that Kalshi was also preparing to launch a similar product. Polymarket staff are also concerned that venture firm Paradigm, which supports Kalshi, has an office located directly opposite theirs, raising the risk of employees’ computer screens being spied upon. Reportedly, Polymarket installed window films for privacy in some offices this spring. In response, a spokesperson for Kalshi denied all allegations, calling Polymarket’s suspicions “sad and verging on delusional.”
