1. Micron earnings confirm the memory supercycle Micron’s fiscal-quarter revenue nearly quadrupled year over year. Adjusted EPS was $33.42 and revenue was $54.23 billion, both above estimates. Next-quarter EPS guidance is centered at $38.15, also above consensus. The company disclosed about $32 billion in customer supply commitments. Shares closed up about 3% overnight; SK hynix ADRs rose more than 5%, and the Philadelphia Semiconductor Index gained 1.59%.
🎯 Beneficiaries: MU, NVDA, AMD; Key catalyst: HBM and AI-server memory demand confirmed by results. Watch margin and capex guidance for sentiment risk.
2.Optical platforms and a Wall Street call move together
Coherent launched PhotonLink, an optics platform for AI data centers covering lasers, fiber, and detectors, and said it already has about 20 CPO/NPO customer engagements. Bernstein called optical networking a structural AI winner and started coverage at Outperform. Overnight, COHR rose about 11%, while LITE and CIEN gained about 7%. The market also traded reports of possible US limits on Chinese 3.2T optical modules; the current 800G/1.6T buildout is not directly affected.
🎯 Beneficiaries: COHR, LITE, CIEN, GLW; Key catalyst: Data-center interconnect upgrades plus supply-substitution expectations. Watch order and capacity delivery.
3. Synopsys partners with OpenAI on a chip-design model
At its investor day, Synopsys guided fiscal 2027 revenue to $11.1–11.2 billion and EPS to $19.04–19.12, both above estimates, implying about 15% revenue growth. It signed a revenue-share deal with OpenAI to build GPT-Synopsys, a chip-design model. AWS signed a separate multi-year deal worth more than $1 billion to license silicon IP and engineering software. Shares rose about 13% overnight.
🎯 Beneficiaries: SNPS, AMZN; Key catalyst: EDA expands from tool sales to model revenue share. Watch product timing and how revenue is recognized.
4.Amazon locks in a long nuclear power contract for data centers
Constellation and Amazon signed a 20-year power purchase agreement covering about 690 MW. It supports roughly 190 MW of added capacity at Maryland’s Calvert Cliffs nuclear plant, expected online in 2030–2032, plus a life extension, tied to more than $3 billion of investment. CEG was up about 4% in the premarket.
🎯 Beneficiaries: CEG, AMZN, VST; Key catalyst: Tech buyers locking in baseload power. Nuclear and independent power producers keep benefiting from data-center load.
5.Anthropic financing and IPO talk pressure the chip chain
Reuters reported that Broadcom agreed to lend Anthropic up to $42 billion for infrastructure, and that Anthropic could become Broadcom’s largest compute customer next year. Separate reports said Anthropic is considering an IPO as early as mid-November. Broadcom fell about 2% overnight. Accenture beat on the quarter and on fiscal 2027 guidance and closed up nearly 16%, putting a price on AI-related consulting demand.
🎯 Beneficiaries: AVGO, ACN, IBM; Key catalyst: Large-scale compute financing and a listing window are both in play. Watch regulation and customer concentration for valuation pressure.
Trading note: The Dow, S&P 500, and Nasdaq closed only slightly higher overnight. The 10-year Treasury yield hit about 5.34% intraday before easing to around 5.24%, and Brent crude moved above $100. Flows concentrated in memory, optics, and EDA. Rates and oil are still capping index beta, so favor event-driven sector rotation and tighter position sizing.
