January Employment Overview

According to the latest report from the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, nonfarm payrolls increased by 130,000 in January. The national unemployment rate remained steady at 4.3 percent. Notable job growth was seen in the health care, social assistance, and construction sectors, while employment declined in federal government and financial services.

This update is based on data from two monthly surveys. The household survey provides insights into labor force participation and unemployment across different demographic groups. The establishment survey offers detailed information on employment, working hours, and wages across various industries.
