  1. Russian Presidential Press Secretary Peskov told Sputnik News Agency that if European countries are interested and Russia has surplus gas, Moscow is willing to discuss supplying natural gas to Europe.
  2. Previously, Russian President Putin stated that Moscow has never refused to supply energy to anyone and that it was the Europeans themselves who gave it up.
  3. Peskov said that after Europe reduced purchases of Russian gas, Russia began to increase sales to alternative destinations. If there are buyers in the West and available quantities of natural gas for sale, there is room for discussion; however, surplus gas is not always available, as much of it already has other uses.
  4. The Middle East conflict has caused a sharp rise in European natural gas prices. Moscow has repeatedly pointed out that the EU's refusal of Russian energy has resulted in losses for the European economy, leading to higher energy costs and reduced competitiveness.
