Procter & Gamble shares rallied Thursday after reporting earnings that exceeded expectations. P&G announced Thursday that sales were up 4% in the first quarter across regions and categories, despite significant cost headwinds.
Wall Street sent shares up more than 5% in trading on Thursday morning after the consumer giant - which makes Tide detergent, Pampers diapers and Bounty paper towels - said that adjustments it made to its strategy earlier this year have begun to pay off.
"What we are changing is nearly every part of our execution framework," chief financial officer Andre Schulten said in a call with analysts.
