SpaceX (SPCX.US) and Tesla (TSLA.US) have established special committees to explore a potential merger deal. Musk revealed during SpaceX's financial results conference call that both companies have set up committees composed of independent directors to examine the feasibility of a possible transaction. Musk stated: "Since I am a party with a conflict of interest, I actually cannot participate in the relevant discussions." However, he also added: "I think this would be a good idea." Musk noted that enhanced cooperation between the two parties in technology areas such as artificial intelligence, chips, robotics, and communication connectivity could bring substantial potential benefits. But he also emphasized that the merger is not a foregone conclusion. Musk said: "If it's said that this matter is already settled, that would be an overstatement." He also pointed out that the deal would require approval from 50% of Tesla shareholders, describing this as a rather high threshold.
