Market Chatter: Anthropic First-Half Revenue Hits $16.3 Billion

MT newswireMT newswire2026/10/20 20:11
04:11 PM EDT, 10/20/2026 (MT Newswires) -- Anthropic recorded revenue of $16.3 billion in the six months ended June 30, up from $1.1 billion a year earlier, The Wall Street Journal reported Tuesday, citing a draft IPO prospectus. About one-fifth of that revenue came from two customers, and the company expects a significant portion to come from a limited number of customers for the foreseeable future, the report said. Anthropic recorded a net loss of $80.7 billion in the period, with $72 billion tied to accounting charges on convertible notes and other instruments, the report said. The company signaled it could spend $750 billion on computing capacity in coming years, including deals still being negotiated, according to the report. It said it sought more capacity than cloud partners were willing to provide and that they increasingly view them as competitors. Anthropic did not immediately respond to a request for comment from MT Newswires. (Market Chatter news is derived from conversations with market professionals globally.
