08:02 AM EDT, 10/19/2026 (MT Newswires) -- US equity futures were edging mostly higher pre-bell Monday as traders observed technology-related stocks rising following recent declines and anticipated a packed week of corporate earnings. Dow Jones Industrial Average futures were 0.3% lower, S&P 500 futures were up 0.4%, and Nasdaq futures were 1% higher. JPMorgan Chase (JPM) said it deployed $5 billion in equity investments and financed or facilitated more than $230 billion in transactions in the first year of its $1.5 trillion Security and Resiliency Initiative. Fifth Third Bancorp (FITB) kicked off corporate earnings this week, posting Q3 adjusted earnings that surpassed analysts' consensus. Slated to report their financial results this week are GE Aerospace (GE), SpaceX (SPCX), Netflix (NFLX), RTX (RTX), Meta Platforms (META), Tesla (TSLA), Lam Research (LRCX), Philip Morris International (PM), SAP (SAP), Procter & Gamble (PG), American Express (AXP), Texas Instruments (TXN), International Business Machines (IBM), AND Union Pacific (UNP). Oil prices were lower, with front-month global benchmark North Sea Brent crude down 1.4% at $108.36 per barrel and US West Texas Intermediate crude 0.9% lower at $98.10 per barrel. The October US housing market index is slated for release at 10 am ET.

The root cause lies in the market’s skepticism toward AI investment returns. The most significant uncertainty is whether aggressive spending by tech giants will actually deliver on profit expectations, while the use of leverage has exponentially magnified the cost of this misjudgment.
