Bitcoin Stabilizes After Hitting 4-Week Low -- Market Talk
Dow Jones2026/10/16 06:340634 GMT - Bitcoin stabilizes after reaching a four-week low on Thursday driven by U.S. data boosting expectations for further interest-rate rises by the Federal Reserve. Better-than-expected U.S. retail sales data along with higher-than-expected wholesale inflation data on Thursday further fuelled rate-rise bets after Wednesday's higher-than-expected consumer price inflation figures. A selloff in technology shares due to concerns about the AI trade had also hit risk-sensitive cryptocurrencies, although U.S. and Asian stocks recovered overnight, providing some relief. Bitcoin trades flat at $81,985 after reaching as low as $79,770 on Thursday, LSEG data show. ([email protected])
