Trekor Metals 3Q Copper Production Rises, Increases FY Targets

Dow JonesDow Jones2026/10/08 12:04

By Adriano Marchese Trekor Metals' output rose in the third quarter, driven by higher ore grades and improved mill performance. The company on Thursday said it has produced 41 million pounds of copper, benefiting from a 12% increase from its Gibraltar mine and higher output from the Florence Copper production facility in Arizona. From Gibraltar, its mine in British Columbia, the company produced 34 million pounds of copper and 380,000 pounds of molybdenum, benefiting from strong grades and increased mill throughput and improved SX/EW plant performance. From Gibraltar, the company now expects to produce 115 million to 120 million pounds of copper, up from previous expectations of 110 million to 115 million pounds. However, it noted that its higher grades have been mined, and now expects lower grades in the fourth quarter. Trekor said that the Florence Copper ramp-up continued in the period, with total copper cathode production rising 36% to 7 million pounds. Chief Executive Stuart McDonald noted that the company is behind its initial plan for its wellfield expansion at the Florence Copper facility. "Drilling rates have improved in recent months, but we are still about three months behind our original plan," McDonald said. SK Hynix abandons Solidigm US IPO plan; analysts say future NAND supply will decrease, benefiting Micron and SanDisk

The analyst team at LYNX Equity Strategies pointed out that if Solidigm's IPO funds had been used to expand NAND capacity in the US, it could have increased global supply after three years or more, thereby putting downward pressure on pricing. Now that this financing channel is closed, the associated risk has disappeared, which is a substantial positive for both Micron and SanDisk; however, for Intel, it is a minor negative, as it means losing a potential manufacturing project.

Western Digital CFO Refutes Claims of Peaking AI Demand: No Signs of Slowdown, Cooling Off Would Actually Help Us Catch Up with Demand Gap

Western Digital's CFO strongly supports AI storage demand, stating that hyperscale cloud providers are continuously expanding capital expenditures and are already discussing supply needs for 2030 to 2031. Although the company’s quarterly results exceeded expectations and profit guidance was raised, capital expenditures more than doubled compared to the same period last year, putting pressure on free cash flow. This has raised concerns in the market about the sustainability of investment returns in AI data centers, causing the stock to close down by about 3% on Friday.
