The scale of the compute power agreement between Anthropic and SpaceX has been revealed, reaching up to $84.5 billions, double the previously disclosed amount.
According to Anthropic’s IPO prospectus, the company has signed a computing power leasing agreement with SpaceX valued at $84.5 billion, far surpassing the previously disclosed $45 billion in SpaceX’s IPO documents. The agreement runs until 2029, with most terms cancellable within 90 days. At the same time, Anthropic’s total spending on AI infrastructure over the next decade is expected to be at least $518 billion.
According to a Tuesday report by Reuters, a confidential IPO prospectus from Anthropic reveals that the company has signed a computing power leasing agreement with SpaceX, with a total cap as high as $84.5 billion, and the agreement extends through 2029.
This figure is much larger than previously known by the market.
In May this year, SpaceX disclosed in its own IPO filing that Anthropic had agreed to lease its Nvidia-based computing power at a price of $1.25 billion per month, for up to three years, totaling about $45 billion.
At that time, both parties stated that the agreement could be canceled with 90 days' written notice.
The newly disclosed $84.5 billion is almost twice the previous figure.
The report notes that most terms in the new agreement also retain the 90-day cancellation clause.
$518 billion: Anthropic's Ten-Year Infrastructure Bill
According to reports, Anthropic expects its total spending on AI infrastructure over the next ten years to reach at least $518 billion.
There are six partners in total, including Google, Amazon, Microsoft, and SpaceX.
SpaceX's role in this ecosystem is expanding—in addition to Anthropic, Google and the startup Reflection AI have also signed computing power leasing agreements with SpaceX.
Anthropic is currently one of the leading large model players, directly competing with OpenAI. Its largest investors include Amazon and Google. Large-scale leasing of external computing power is one of the mainstream approaches for AI companies beyond building their own data centers. The computing power business under SpaceX is becoming a significant supplier in this market.
