🔥 US Stock Radar is live! 3 core themes + 6 selected names + 7-event calendar — where are this week’s US market setups? Tap the link for 22 trade ideas in one chart →

I. Market Backdrop: Rates Are Pressing Valuations; the Twin Summits Are the New Catalyst

US stocks pulled back Monday under rate pressure. The S&P 500 fell 0.8% to 7,683.69, and the Nasdaq dropped 0.9% to 26,820.38. The 10-year Treasury yield climbed to 5.23%, its highest since 2007. Uncertainty around the Strait of Hormuz kept oil and the discount rate elevated.

Most Magnificent Seven names closed lower (META down nearly 5%). Nvidia was the exception, up almost 2%, after the board added $150 billion to its buyback authorization, lifting the total to $235 billion — a liquidity backstop in a high-rate tape.

Attention has now shifted to two overlapping events today: White House policy signaling + OpenAI product delivery.

II. Event Breakdown: Policy on One Side, Product on the Other

1. White House meeting (policy line)

  • Trump and House Speaker Johnson are meeting Jensen Huang, Elon Musk, Mark Zuckerberg, Sundar Pichai, Alex Karp, Dario Amodei, Greg Brockman and other tech leaders in the East Room.
  • Core move: launch America.gov, an AI-powered federal portal that folds scattered government services into one front door.
  • Policy signal: no pause on AI development, no heavy-handed regulation, and a push to balance innovation with safety so the US does not hand the race to China. If the tone stays loose, Washington flips from spectator to mega-customer — supportive for compute spend and government/enterprise software.

2. OpenAI DevDay (product line)

  • Altman keynotes at 10:00 a.m. PT (1:00 a.m. Wednesday, Beijing time).
  • Expected drops: a preview of GPT-6 Cyber (the fourth security-specialized model, limited to verified Daybreak Red teams); “nonstop” coding agents; and cyber models that scan code, find holes, and validate patches.
  • Commercial logic: AI moves from writing copy to writing code, finding vulnerabilities, and shipping fixes. Token burn and the value of being embedded in security platforms both get repriced.

III. Beneficiary List: Ranked by Who Gets Paid First

We think stacking names by “who gets paid first” is cleaner than stacking them by hype.

  • Front row: compute base (highest visibility)
    • Nvidia (NVDA): White House guest + oversized buyback + Open Agent Safety Platform.
    • AMD / Broadcom (AVGO) / TSMC (TSM): same training-and-inference expansion wave.
  • Second row: cloud and distribution (the enterprise on-ramp)
    • Microsoft (MSFT): OpenAI’s deepest cloud and distribution partner. Most DevDay enterprise rollout still runs through Azure.
    • Google (GOOGL) / Amazon (AMZN): backup for government cloud and in-house chips.
  • Third row: government applications (the most direct policy buyer)
    • Palantir (PLTR): CEO Karp is at the White House meeting. America.gov’s “one AI front door” story maps closely onto Gotham/AIP.
  • Fourth row: cybersecurity (the underpriced increment)
    • CrowdStrike (CRWD) / Palo Alto Networks (PANW) / Cisco (CSCO): already Daybreak partners. If GPT-6 Cyber becomes a deployable product, these platforms get it into existing SOC workflows first.
  • High-beta line: Musk ecosystem
    • Tesla (TSLA) / xAI-linked names: big narrative torque, equally noisy.

Core trade: today is not about picking a new theme. It is about validating the one already on the table. If the White House stresses that “government will use AI too,” and DevDay makes the Cyber + coding-agent path concrete, the tape can rotate from valuation pressure back to orders and products.

That argues for thematic exposure around the core names (NVDA, MSFT, PLTR, CRWD), not a full-size all-in. Watch the flip side: if Washington suddenly leans into safety red lines, or DevDay is demo-only with no deployment path, rich AI multiples can sell the news.

Risk note: the 10-year is still above 5.2%, and PCE plus jobs data are still on this week’s calendar. Trade carefully.

Layer Name Ticker Why it benefits What to watch today
Compute base Nvidia NVDA White House guest + buyback lifted to $235B + Agent safety platform Does the regulatory tone stay loose, and does the buyback hold the multiple?
Compute base AMD / Broadcom / TSMC AMD / AVGO / TSM Second-source GPUs and foundry for the same training/inference buildout Does DevDay reinforce multi-cloud, multi-chip buying?
Cloud & distribution Microsoft MSFT Deepest OpenAI cloud partner; most enterprise rollout runs through Azure Do coding agents and enterprise products lock to Azure?
Cloud & distribution Google / Amazon GOOGL / AMZN Government-cloud optionality plus TPU / Trainium and in-house models Does America.gov open a federal-cloud RFP story?
Gov applications Palantir PLTR Karp at the White House; federal data front door rhymes with AIP Does government AI move from showcase to procurement?
Cybersecurity CrowdStrike / Palo Alto / Cisco CRWD / PANW / CSCO Daybreak partners; GPT-6 Cyber can sit inside existing SOCs Does the Cyber preview include a deployable product and timeline?
High-beta satellite Tesla TSLA Musk in the room + xAI compute / robotics narrative Policy-friendly, but a weaker direct link to DevDay orders

U.S. August JOLTS job openings fall to a 5-month low, missing expectations for the third consecutive month

In August, job openings in the United States fell to 7.079 million, below economists' expectations of 7.228 million. Job vacancies in the real estate and rental sector were only 50,000, nearly halved from the previous month. The quit rate remained at 1.9%, matching the lowest level since 2020. The ratio of job vacancies to unemployed persons dropped to 1.0. Analysts have noted that net hires implied by the JOLTS report have been lower than the nonfarm payroll report for three consecutive months, indicating a significant downside risk for this Friday’s nonfarm payroll data.
