Novo Nordisk is open to the idea of upgrading its listing status in New York, as part of the Danish weight-loss drug maker’s efforts to boost its profile in the United States—a move similar to what its UK rival AstraZeneca took earlier this year. When asked whether Novo Nordisk would consider directly listing its shares on the New York Stock Exchange to replace its current American depositary receipts, CEO Lars Fruergaard Jørgensen said: “I do see some advantages in doing so.” “I’m not the kind of person who typically says ‘no’ right away; I tend to say ‘maybe’ first.” However, he emphasized that the company is not currently pursuing this idea.
