Roots logged a widened loss in its second quarter as sales fell.
The Canadian outdoor lifestyle brand on Friday reported a widened loss of 6 million Canadian dollars ($4.3 million), or C$0.15 a share in the three months ended Aug. 1, compared with a loss of C$4.4 million, or C$0.11 a share a year earlier.
Adjusted loss before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortization narrowed to C$1.6 million from a loss of C$2.1 million.
Sales fell 2.4% to C$49.5 million, with direct-to-consumer sales slipping 1.3% from a year earlier. Direct-to-consumer comparable sales also fell, down 1%.
Last month, Roots, one of Canada's most iconic household names, announced that it accepted a deal to go private with Marquee Brands for C$4.10 a share, which implies an equity value of about C$161 million.
Marquee Brands will join up with JM&A Design and Development, which will oversee the design, development, manufacturing and distribution of Roots' apparel, as well as its retail and ecommerce operations.
