An ancient Bitcoin wallet was awakened, turning $120 into $3 million

A parade of long-dormant Bitcoin wallets coming back to life shows no signs of slowing, with at least four ancient stashes recently springing into activity in the past few days—one of which appears poised to sell.

According to blockchain monitoring by Galaxy Research, the reactivated wallets together moved 202.84 BTC, worth about $15.73 million, between August 29 and September 4.

The largest among them held 146.06 BTC, worth roughly $11.31 million, and had been inactive since November 2013, nearly 12.8 years. Bought at an average cost basis near $595, this wallet realized a gain of about 12,902%. Closely following, a wallet with 40 BTC dormant since November 2011, now valued at about $3.09 million, saw a staggering increase of 2,571,899% from its average cost of about $3. That means this patient holder managed to turn almost $120 of Bitcoin into more than $3 million—just by holding for nearly 15 years.

Two smaller wallets rounded out this batch: one inactive since June 2011 holding 10 BTC, worth about $777,000, and another last active in February 2011 with 6.78 BTC, valued around $551,000. The oldest coins brought astronomical paper returns, with assets from 2011 up over 2,000%, and in one case, the original cost surged over 500,000%.

The surge in these follow-on awakenings continues the accelerated trend that began in the summer. Latest data from Galaxy shows that Bitcoin’s oldest coins—those untouched for ten years or more—are being revived in 2026 at a rare pace. The previous wave saw six wallets move about $40 million in just ten days during August.

Most such transfers make the fate of the coins unclear, since simply moving assets does not reveal whether the owner is selling, consolidating, or transferring to new custody. This time, one wallet gave a clearer signal.

Several reactivated wallets are also tagged as “Noah Doe” senders, referring to a lawsuit filed in New York seeking to declare thousands of dormant addresses as abandoned property. Wallets named in the case have begun to stir regularly since the judge paused the lawsuit in June.

Why so many antique holders are beginning to move coins now remains unclear, but each awakening sparks questions over whether precious lost supply is returning to circulation.

Four Mac Studio systems run trillion-parameter models, Apple challenges Nvidia's narrative on inference

Apple's hardware chief pointed out that after enterprises purchase devices outright, there is no need to pay by token, and the cost-effectiveness of local computing power might be superior to long-term rental of cloud GPUs. Goldman Sachs believes that if more inference tasks shift to end devices, Nvidia's share in incremental AI activity may fall short of market expectations. Currently, Nvidia's implied volatility is at its lowest since before the pandemic, and option pricing has almost no risk premium allocated for this narrative change. Therefore, Goldman Sachs recommends buying Nvidia put options and going long on Apple.

Canadian Prime Minister: US-Canada trade agreement is still possible, but Ottawa will not give up its right to deepen cooperation with the EU

Canadian Prime Minister Carney stated that while it remains possible to reach a trade agreement with the United States, Canada will not trade its sovereignty for any deal, particularly insisting on its right to independently sign trade agreements. Meanwhile, Carney is actively promoting deeper cooperation between Canada and the European Union, covering critical minerals, energy, scientific research, and student exchanges, aiming to reduce dependence on the US and defend national sovereignty. He emphasized that in an era when connectivity can be weaponized, diversified cooperation is a necessary choice for safeguarding sovereignty.
