Bitcoin May Avoid a Negative September -- Market Talk
Dow Jones2026/09/03 15:201120 ET - Bitcoin is pacing back towards the $80,000 mark, with the cryptocurrency up 3.3% to $79,975. Bitcoin has lost on average 3% each September since 2013, according to analysts with Bitget Wallet. But depending on how market factors turn out this month bitcoin may buck that trend, says the firm's Lacie Zhang in a note. "This week's macro calendar will likely decide which September we get," says Zhang. "With CPI and the Fed decision still to come later in the month, Friday's [jobs report] is the first real test of whether September breaks its historical pattern." Ethereum rises 3% to $2,466, and XRP is up 5.3% to $1.42. ([email protected])

Rare in 25 years! The 10-year U.S. Treasury yield surpasses the S&P 500 earnings yield
The 10-year US Treasury yield has surpassed 5%, making bonds more attractive relative to stocks than at any point in the past 25 years. The earnings yield of stocks, as measured by the inverse of the S&P 500’s price-to-earnings ratio, is now lower than the 10-year US Treasury yield, resulting in a clear yield suppression effect on the stock market from bonds. According to the Shiller model, the S&P 500 may outperform bonds by only about 1% annually over the next decade. The 20-year paradigm of stocks outperforming bonds has officially come to an end.
