CoinEditionCoinEdition2026/08/04 05:54

Bitcoin traded near $63,824, up 1.45% over the past 24 hours, hovering close to its 200-week moving average near $63,700. Ethereum held around $1,866, up slightly. XRP traded near $1.07, up for the week, while Solana held near $73.70. BNB outperformed with a 4.65% weekly gain to $591.03.

Total crypto market capitalization stood at $2.18 trillion, up 1.1% over the past day, while 24-hour liquidations more than doubled to $224.06 million, up 117.26%. The Fear & Greed Index read 37, still in “fear” territory, while the Altcoin Season Index held at 50.

Analysts flagged that Bitcoin is trading almost directly on its 200-week moving average near $63,700, while long-term resistance continues falling toward $69,000, compressing the range Bitcoin has traded in for weeks.

On-chain indicators like MVRV are approaching levels typically seen near major bottoms but haven’t fully reset. Historically, Bitcoin has closed every previous midterm-election August in the red, though traders note a clean break above $69,000 could reignite momentum, with some pointing to a potential move above $100,000 if the range finally resolves upward.

Cash Cat surged 61.8% over 24 hours to lead trending searches, followed by Cardano, up 5.3%, while Gram (formerly Toncoin) slipped 1.0%. The spread reflects continued rotation into smaller speculative names even as majors traded in a narrow range.

Galaxy Research confirmed the Coldcard hardware wallet incident has resulted in losses exceeding $100 million, with 1,596 BTC confirmed stolen and potential losses rising to $130 million.

Mastercard completed its acquisition of stablecoin infrastructure firm BVNK, while Franklin Templeton became a super validator on the Canton Network. BitMine staked another 150,120 ETH worth roughly $280 million, bringing its total staked position to 5.07 million ETH generating an estimated $250 million in annual yield.

The White House has not responded to a new compromise ethics proposal from Senators Tillis and Gallego, leaving the bill’s central sticking point unresolved ahead of the August recess. Treasury digital asset policy advisor Tyler Williams departed his post last Friday, a move Secretary Bessent acknowledged came as the legislation remains deadlocked in Congress.

Four Mac Studio systems run trillion-parameter models, Apple challenges Nvidia's narrative on inference

Apple's hardware chief pointed out that after enterprises purchase devices outright, there is no need to pay by token, and the cost-effectiveness of local computing power might be superior to long-term rental of cloud GPUs. Goldman Sachs believes that if more inference tasks shift to end devices, Nvidia's share in incremental AI activity may fall short of market expectations. Currently, Nvidia's implied volatility is at its lowest since before the pandemic, and option pricing has almost no risk premium allocated for this narrative change. Therefore, Goldman Sachs recommends buying Nvidia put options and going long on Apple.

Canadian Prime Minister: US-Canada trade agreement is still possible, but Ottawa will not give up its right to deepen cooperation with the EU

Canadian Prime Minister Carney stated that while it remains possible to reach a trade agreement with the United States, Canada will not trade its sovereignty for any deal, particularly insisting on its right to independently sign trade agreements. Meanwhile, Carney is actively promoting deeper cooperation between Canada and the European Union, covering critical minerals, energy, scientific research, and student exchanges, aiming to reduce dependence on the US and defend national sovereignty. He emphasized that in an era when connectivity can be weaponized, diversified cooperation is a necessary choice for safeguarding sovereignty.
