A vulnerability in the Wanchain cross-chain bridge led to 290 million NIGHT being transferred out; NIGHT rebounded nearly 19% in 24 hours.
ChainCatcher reported that the Wanchain cross-chain bridge suffered a vulnerability attack on Monday, resulting in the transfer of 290 million NIGHT tokens. The price of NIGHT dropped by approximately 43% to a historic low, and then partially rebounded by nearly 19% within 24 hours.
Charles Hoskinson stated that the issue originated from an old cross-chain bridge architecture built by a third party. He added that AI-driven vulnerability discovery is accelerating the exposure of flaws in all software, not limited to the crypto sector. He believes that zero-knowledge systems like Midnight are the long-term solution, allowing cryptographic proofs to replace trust in cross-chain bridge operators and multi-signature mechanisms.
