Ukraine incorporates confiscated crypto assets into state management for the first time, seizing over 8.3 million USDT
According to ChainCatcher, Decrypt reports that Ukraine has, for the first time, included seized crypto assets under state management. The Ukrainian Prosecutor General's Office stated on Telegram that more than 8.3 million USDT have been transferred to a wallet controlled by the Asset Recovery and Management Agency. These USDT originated from a suspected member of an international hacker organization that carried out cyberattacks on targets in Europe and the United States, stealing confidential data and extorting ransom, with an estimated loss exceeding 100 million US dollars. Four suspects, including the organizer, have been detained. Over 11.1 million US dollars in assets have been seized in total, including real estate, vehicles, 1 million US dollars in cash, and cryptocurrencies.
Ukraine legalized virtual assets in 2022 and is advancing tax and regulatory bills to align with EU standards. According to Chainalysis data, Ukraine ranks fourth in Europe for crypto transaction volume, receiving 206.3 billion US dollars from mid-2024 to mid-2025.
