Paradigm researcher proposes a timestamp escape mechanism to protect early Bitcoin from quantum computing threats
Odaily reported that Paradigm researcher Dan Robinson proposed a new scheme called PACT (Proof of Address Control with Timestamp), aimed at protecting long-dormant Bitcoin, including early Satoshi addresses, from future quantum computing attacks.
This mechanism allows users to prove their control over an address with a timestamp without transferring assets or exposing on-chain activity. If quantum attacks occur in the future, assets can be recovered using this proof in a quantum-resistant version of the Bitcoin network.
Compared to mandatory migration schemes such as BIP-361, PACT avoids privacy exposure risks associated with actively transferring assets, offering long-term holders a more flexible preventive approach.
