India promotes digital rupee adoption through welfare pilot and advances BRICS central bank digital currency connectivity plan
ChainCatcher reports that India is piloting digital rupee applications through around 10 welfare programs. Approximately 80 billion USD in subsidies and food welfare benefits are being distributed via e-rupee in order to reduce fund loss and corruption, and to provide clearer use cases for central bank digital currencies.
