Silver Price Outlook: XAG/USD slips to $66.50 as sellers remain dominant beneath the 100-day SMA
Silver Price Analysis: XAG/USD Faces Renewed Selling Pressure
Silver (XAG/USD) is struggling to maintain the momentum from its strong rebound off the $61.00 level—the lowest price seen since December 12. During Tuesday’s Asian trading hours, the metal encountered fresh selling, pulling it back toward the mid-$66.00s and leaving it susceptible to extending its two-week decline.
Technical Overview
From a technical standpoint, last week’s drop and the daily close beneath the 100-day Simple Moving Average (SMA)—a first since April 2025—have been significant bearish signals for silver. This move has shifted the metal back into a downward phase within its broader uptrend. The Moving Average Convergence Divergence (MACD) indicator has turned negative, with its line staying below the signal and the negative histogram widening, all pointing to intensifying downward momentum.
Additionally, the Relative Strength Index (RSI) is hovering near 33, remaining below the neutral 50 mark and edging closer to oversold territory. This suggests that bearish momentum is still in play, with little evidence of a reversal so far. The current low around $67.00 serves as the first support level; if silver falls below this point, further declines toward $63.00 and then $60.00 are possible, where buyers may attempt to halt the slide and reinforce the longer-term bullish outlook.
Key Resistance and Support Levels
On the upside, the initial resistance is found near the recent breakdown area at $73.00, which coincides with the 100-day SMA around $74.00. Any upward move is likely to face selling pressure at these levels. A daily close above this resistance could pave the way for a rally toward $80.00, with the $85.00 region acting as a major barrier to further gains.
