Israel and Iran target gas infrastructure in a significant intensification that unsettles markets
Iran Launches Strikes on Major Gulf Energy Sites
In a dramatic escalation of regional tensions, Iran carried out attacks on Thursday against the world’s largest liquefied natural gas facility in Qatar, struck a gas field and infrastructure in the United Arab Emirates, and targeted a Saudi oil refinery as well as two Kuwaiti gas installations. These actions came just one day after Israel bombed Iran’s South Pars gas field.
The assaults marked a significant turning point in the ongoing conflict, now nearing its third week, as Iran directly targeted its Gulf neighbors—Qatar, the UAE, Saudi Arabia, and Kuwait. The strikes on these critical global energy hubs sent shockwaves through international markets and heightened fears of further instability in the region.
