Dollar Strengthens as Markets React to Fed Nomination
Currency traders continued to assess the impact of US President Donald Trump’s selection of Kevin Warsh as the potential new head of the Federal Reserve. The US dollar maintained its strength, as many believe Warsh is unlikely to advocate for aggressive interest rate reductions. This nomination has also eased some worries about the Fed’s autonomy, following Trump’s repeated criticisms of the central bank and current Chair Jerome Powell.
In early market activity, the euro traded at $1.1814, while the British pound held steady at $1.3693. Investors are watching closely as both the European Central Bank and the Bank of England prepare for key policy meetings scheduled for Thursday.
